Enrolment is necessary to receive subsidies consultation. To enroll, you will need to complete a form, which also includes a transfer of notes request from your present GP. Individual appointments are only 15 minutes long – if you have several issues of concern that need to be addressed at your visit, please consider booking a double appointment to allow adequate time for the doctor or Nurse Practitioner to deal with your concerns properly and professionally - a double appointment needs to be booked in advance of your consultation.
If your appointment contains more than 1 issue and runs overtime, you may be charged an additional fee for the time taken by the Doctor to address your concerns.
Also, all of our appointments are for one person only – please inform the reception staff if you have a second person to be seen - this may require an additional appointment slot.
-
At Ohope Beach Medical Centre, we are always up to date with filing and reviewing test results ordered by our clinicians. If a result is abnormal, we will notify you and explain the follow-up plan. We do not routinely notify patients of normal results unless your doctor has specifically advised otherwise.
If you would like to discuss your results, please book an appointment with your GP or Nurse Practitioner. Alternatively, if you are registered with Manage My Health, you can access your results online.
For tests or imaging ordered by a specialist, please contact the specialist directly for your results, as they are responsible for reviewing and communicating these with you.
-
Prescription requests are only for regular or ongoing medications and will have been discussed with your doctor previously. However, you still need to have regular consultations with your doctor and/or nurse to make sure your condition is monitored within medical guidelines. If you have recently been in hospital, we normally would want to see you before prescribing again.
If you have not seen your GP/NP in the last 12 months you will need to make an appointment.
**Please note, in most cases antibiotics WILL NOT be prescribed without an appointment.
Ordering prescriptions through Manage My Health will speed up the process and prevents errors, otherwise you can ring our prescription line for your repeat prescription.
Your script will be ready in 2 working days. We will contact you should there be a problem with giving you a repeat prescription. Our prescription fees are $20 and the script is electronically sent to your preferred pharmacy.

Without immunisation your child can infect others: unimmunised people can pass disease on to babies who are too young to be fully immunised. Unimmunised people may be a risk to children and adults who can't be immunised for medical reasons these include people with leukemia and other cancers who are receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy or large doses of corticosteroids.
Without immunisations your child may have to be excluded at times from school or childcare during a disease outbreak which may cause hardship for the parent and the child.
We strongly encourage you to immunise your child. Your final decision affects not only the health of your child but also the rest of your family, the health of your child's friends and their families, classmates, neighbors and community.

We treat our patients with courtesy and ask the same in return.
We ask that you treat your GP and ALL Practice Staff courteously - without violence, abuse or harassment.
Our staff have the right to care for others without fear of being attacked or abused.
Any behavior, verbal or physical, which causes staff to feel uncomfortable, embarrassed or threatened is totally unacceptable.
This Zero Tolerance Policy includes aggression, or threats made in person, over the telephone or in a written communication.
The practice considers threatening behavior to be:
Attempted or actual, aggressive threatening physical actions towards any member of staff
The use of aggressive, threatening or abusive language (including raising of the voice, swearing and cursing, shouting) which threatens or intimidates staff
This policy applies to the carpark and entire complex/grounds. It also applies to any employee or partner away from the practice but only in so far as it relates to the business of the practice.
Instances of verbally abusive/threatening behavior will be reported to the Practice Manager and a warning letter sent to the patient.
If the patient does not improve their behavior and the Practice Manager is made aware of a repeat offence, the patient will be sent a Final Warning Letter informing them of their breach of the Zero Tolerance Policy, and they may be removed from the Practice list.
Any instance or threat of physical harm will be reported to the police. If onsite, the offender will be removed from the premises by the police.
The patient will subsequently be removed from the practice list and the patient will be notified that they must register elsewhere.

At Ohope Beach Medical Centre, we offer professional Diving Medical Examinations to ensure you are fit to dive safely. As a trained Baro and Dive Specialist, I assess medical conditions that could pose risks underwater, such as heart, lung, and ear issues. Before your examination, you must complete a medical questionnaire to identify any potential concerns. If you answer "Yes" to any questions, a full medical assessment is required to determine if you can dive safely. This does not necessarily mean you cannot dive, but medical clearance is needed.
Diving is more enjoyable when you are well-prepared and confident in your health. A proper medical assessment ensures that you can focus on exploring the underwater world without unnecessary risks. Knowing you are fit to dive enhances both safety and peace of mind. I work closely with the Dive Specialist teams in Devonport and Christchurch, as well as local dive schools, to provide the best support for divers. If any medical concerns arise while you are overseas, I can offer guidance and assistance where possible.
Click here to access the medical questionnaire or contact us for more information.
